Pondicherry Institute Of Medical Sciences is a Christian Minority Institution which was founded in 2002 by the Madras Medical Mission. It is made up of two colleges namely Medical College & Nursing College. The college is approved for full recognition by MCI for MBBS Degree granted by the Pondicherry University as it is fully affiliated to Pondicherry University. The Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences is the outcome of the vision of the Madras Medical Mission to create a medical school offering innovative medical education with international participation. The aim is to produce health professionals with a commitment not only to provide high quality medical care but also do research to prevent and alleviate disease processes. Hostel facility is available for its students.
